There were many style stars who choose to stray from the traditional shimmery gowns at the Met Gala and we wanted to highlight a few of our favorite looks.
The British actress Emma Watson was seen wearing a sleek black and white ensemble made from plastic bottles at the 2016 Met Gala. Watson collaborated with Calvin Klein and Eco Age to create an entire ensemble that is completely sustainable.Watson wrote from her Facebook that the body of the gown was made from three different fabrics, all woven from yarn made from recycled plastic bottles. The 26-year-old activist wants to spread awareness and let everyone know that beautiful pieces are meant to be wore over and over and over again. Watson stated, “Plastic is one of the biggest pollutants on the planet. Being able to repurpose this waste and incorporate it into my gown for the Met Gala proves the power that creativity, technology and fashion can have by working together.”
Watson says the zippers on the gown are made from recycled materials and the inner bustier was crafted with organic cotton.Watson’s goals were to repurpose all pieces of the gown for future use. For example, the trousers and bustier can be used to mix-and-match other outfits daily, while the long elegant jet-black train could enhance another red carpet ensemble.
Another style star we’d like to high light is Sarah Jessica Parker. She also showed up at the Met Gala not wearing a traditional dress. Parker is seen wearing an all white Monse pantsuit; however, all eyes were on her cobalt blue heels from her current shoe collection. Parker pulls the look together by wearing a smokey eye and nude pink lips.
Last but not least the Olsen Twins. The 29-year-old duo is still able to turn heads their way. On the red carpet the Olsen Twins were spotted wearing their signature oversized, chic, ensembles and accessorized their looks with jewelry from Fred Leighton. And of course the duo walked the red carpet with fresh dewy skin an their signature “Prune” smile.
