The 22-year-old actress, Saoirse Ronan is our It Girl of the moment. Ronan’s background is quite interesting she was born in New York and raised in Ireland, yes that does mean she holds dual citizenship. It must be a nice bonus to travel from America to Europe with ease. Her father, Paul Ronan is an Irish actor, one could say that she’s following her father’s footsteps. Even at a young age Ronan had a taste of success as an actress. In Ireland she appeared on a couple of Irish T.V. series called Proof and The Clinic.
However, Ronan’s first break into Hollywood was when she played as supporting actress Izzie from I Could Never Be Your Woman in 2007. The film was about a mother falling in love with a younger man while her daughter fell in love for the first time. Ronan worked side by side with actress Michelle Pfeiffer.
At the ripe age of 13-years-old this modern muse was nominated for best supporting actress at the Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. Ronan is well known for her on screen roles as: Broiny Tallis from The Atonement (2007), Susie Salmon from The Lovely Bones (2009) and Hanna from Hanna (2011).
A fun fact about Ronan, she has only used her Irish accent twice for films, The Grand Budapest Hotel in 2014 and another time when she was casted as Eilis for the film Brooklyn in 2015. According to her interview with Refinery 29, Ronan stated, “When I had read the script, I thought, Great, this is a well-written script. It’s a strong female role. It’s Irish.” What we love most about this beautiful actress is that she’s proud of her heritage and it shows.
