At first there was contouring, then came strobing now this spring makeup junkies are all about color correcting. The color correcting technique is used to help neutralized the skin and problem areas on your face such as: concealing dark circles, reducing redness and overall brightening the skin. It’s super easy to pick and chose what colors you should use based on your skin tone and issues that you’d like to address.
For example, if you have light skin tones- use a color corrector with a pink base so that it can cancel out dark circles. If you have medium skin tones- use a color corrector with a peach base and if you have dark skin tones- orange can help cancel and cancel dark circles. Lastly, if you have deep skin tones- use a color corrector with a red creamy base to cancel dark circles.
According to Sephora, color correcting can be simple and easy. For instance:
Yellow- helps neutralizes redness on all skin tones
Green- targets intense redness usually areas around the nose, lips and chin
Purple- brightens dull skin for medium skin tones
Pink- brightens dull skin for fair to light skin tones
Orange- helps cancel dark circles and fights against darks spots on tan to dark skin
